【What is Mizuhiki?】
It is hardened paper string used in Japanese formal gift wrapping which is manufactured by twisting and starching washi paper.
Opinions divide about its origin but according to one of them, it traces back to 607, when Japanese Imperial court sent envoy to Sui Dynasty China. It is said that the envoy ONO no Imoko, praying for a safe return voyage, tied linen strings dyed in two colors of red and white on the items to be presented to Japanese Imperial court. The custom since then, to put red and white strings to all the presents to the Imperial courts, spread to samurai society, then it spread out to the common people after Meiji restoration in late 19th century.
Today, it is used as auspicious ornaments in various ways such as home decorations and accessories as well as in ornamental wrappings for gift boxes and gift money envelopes.

- About your classes: If you run the kHT course(C1~C8) using komorebi kits, your classes could be authorized kHT classes and those who finish C8 in your classes could be komorebi instructors. (komorebi kits are offered at special prices for instructors)
